GOAL: Committed to poverty eradication through the empowerment of the poor

Empower an Entrepreneur

Women are very often the primary bread winner responsible for a family of four or five. While every member of a family contributes to the one or two meals a day, she is the first one up in the morning and the last one to sleep at night. Her job to care for her family is unending. Giving her the opportunity to develop a steady source of income that can expand to meet her needs will ensure that she can provide for their basic needs.

Women in rural Bangladesh learn to be entrepreneurial in order to survive. Often the single head of household, she must be creative in finding ways to support her family. Without an education, she needs a helping hand in order to learn how to grow her idea into a small business and then build that business into a sound financial investment. Joining a women's group guided by a social worker, she will learn about money management, asset building and the importance of saving.

To get her started toward financial security she will need a sponsor to help prepare her for success. Choosing to open a small store will involve a capital expense to build her space. She will need job training to manage her business and funds to establish a revolving fund to keep her shelves stocked. A woman's life and her family's security can change with an investment of $295.00. Foe every empowered entrepreneur, an entire family has the opportunity for financial stability and independence.
