GOAL: Committed to poverty eradication through the empowerment of the poor

Women's Survival Kit

Poverty is a condition that affects every part of a family's life. Our partner families have no resources when they enter the program. To change their lives, it is necessary to look at each family's individual needs, talents and abilities and to create a multi-layered plan to address their problems.

A woman entering our partnership program is usually a single mother struggling to feed her family one meal a day. She and her children suffer from malnutrition and live in a state of near starvation. She is without skills, or resources, or hope.

Before she can even begin to plan a future, she is helped to acquire the basic necessities of life. Health and survival depend on adequate shelter to protect the family from the monsoon rains, heat and cold; access to pure drinking water; emergency food; access to a sanitary latrine; appropriate seasonal clothing and basic medical care.

Once these basic needs are met, she will be able to work with a social worker to create a plan for her economic stability which will include a program for each family member to become a contributor to the overall well-being of the family. She needs a beginning. To help her survive, she will need a sponsor. Can you help a woman start a new life?
