PSDI is hosting a benefit concert on August 25 at The Pageant celebrating the original Concert for Bangladesh organized by George Harrison of the Beatles on August 1, 1971 at Madison Square Garden.
Our headliner is the Liverpool Legends - a popular and award-winning Beatles tribute band formed by Louis Harrison, George Harrison’s sister. It is the only Beatles tribute band with a direct family link to the Beatles. "Each member of the group is so close to the originals that I often feel like I'm transported back in time with the lads. These are exactly the kind of fun loving quality musicians that my brother George would have loved to hang out with,” says Harrison. They have headlined at Carnegie Hall and at the Rose Bowl, have had their own successful show in Branson, Missouri for twelve years, and have sold out at stadiums around the world including India, Mexico, Israel and Ecuador. Clar and GiGi Monaco with SANDALWOOD SITAR will also perform.
Proceeds from the concert, much like the original Concert for Bangladesh, will benefit extremely poor families living in Bangladesh. In 1971, George Harrison saw a need to help a newly formed, war torn country. Today we recognize that 21 million people living in Bangladesh live on less than $2 per day and yearn to be self-sufficient.
All seating for the event is reserved with tickets available at Suite 100 at The Pageant, The Pageant Box Office, www.thepageant.com or by phone through Ticketmaster at 1.800.745.3000 beginning June 29 with a special pre-sale available June 28 from 10-10. Tickets sell for $40 each with VIP tickets available for $100. VIP tickets include admission to a pre-event, from 6:00-7:00 pm, where patrons have an opportunity to meet the band and enjoy food and drinks. Doors for the concert open at 7:00.
