40 YEARS OF SERVICE

For 40 years, the Poverty Eradication Program (PEP) has shared over a million resources helping transform life for hundreds of thousands families across rural Bangladesh.  PSDI has been proud to support PEP’s work since 2004.  To celebrate this long-term success, we wanted to share a summary of the impact we have collectively had.

Grounded in the belief that lasting change comes through empowerment, PEP equips families with the tools to build sustainable futures. Education has been central to this effort, with 3,545 schools established and more than 106,000 children enrolled, giving young people the skills and confidence to pursue new opportunities.  Education is the key to poverty eradication for future generations.

At the same time, 280,970 families have gained access to income-generating resources such as livestock, small business funding, and agricultural support. From cows and goats to farming inputs and rural enterprises, these investments have vulnerable families to earn steady incomes and move toward self-reliance.

PEP’s impact extends beyond livelihoods. Nearly 20,000 families now have safe housing, over 12,000 have access to clean water, and 41,000 have access to sanitary latrines—critical foundations for health and dignity. Over 719,000 people have received medical care through clinics and outreach programs, alongside vital nutrition and health support for children and mothers.

The organization has also strengthened entire communities by building roads, bridges, irrigation systems, and flood protection, improving access to markets and safeguarding livelihoods. For the most vulnerable, including landless families and those facing crisis, targeted support has provided stability, shelter, and hope.

Newly established consumer credit and microcredit programs have provided loans to more than 14,500 families, helping them build assets and strengthen their long-term stability.

Together, these efforts demonstrate what’s possible when families are given the resources to thrive. Across Bangladesh, communities are not just surviving—they are building stronger, more secure futures.  We are grateful to YOU and our PEP team in Bangladesh for impacting the lives of so many vulnerable families.  It has mattered.
