Because of you, families in rural Bangladesh are building brighter futures through microloans and education.

In just one year, families served grew from 15,104 in 2024 to 21,249 in 2025 — a powerful testament to your generosity.

  • Microloans empower parents to start small businesses, earn steady incomes, and lift their families from poverty.

  • Education gives children the foundation for a better life — including 1,320 students learning in our 44 primary schools each year.

These programs deliver remarkable impact: every dollar invested in microcredit yields $6–$17 in social and economic return, while education generates $4–$9.

This year, you met Julekha Akter’s family in our July newsletter — one of many whose lives have been transformed through a small PEP microloan. With a loan of just $727, they purchased a used battery-powered rickshaw. Today, Julekha’s husband, Sohel, earns a steady $6–$7 a day, their children are in school, and they no longer have to choose between medicine and meals.  You did that through your gifts.

“This loan changed our lives,” Julekha shared. “We are so grateful to PEP and PSDI for standing beside us when we needed it most.”

This year we also honor the life and legacy of our founder, Wm. “Bill” Christensen, who devoted 35 years to serving the poor in Bangladesh. His vision lives on through the Poverty Eradication Program (PEP) team, transforming more than 75,000 families to date.
